UPSC 2012 Civil Service - Prelims Exam

Announcement for Exam Dates, Application Dates, and application procedure.

Vacancies: 

A total of 1037 vacancies has been announced.

Eligibility: 

Age: Minimum 21 years and maximum 30 years as on 01/08/2012. The upper age is relaxable for SC/ST/OBC and certain other categories of candidates.

Educational Qualification: Degree of a recognised university or an equivalent qualification.

Physical Standards: Candidates must be physically fit according to the Regulations given in notice.

Number of Attempts: The maximum number of attempts permissible to different categories of aspirants, who are otherwise eligible will be as follows:

General Category: Four
Physical Handicapped : Seven
OBC : Seven
SC / ST : No Limit

Application fees: 

Rs.50/- (No fee for Female/ SC/ST/PH candidates)

Fees can be paid by following ways:

  • remitting the money in any Branch of SBI by Cash
  • using net banking facility of SBI/ State Bank of Bikaner & Jaipur/ Sate Bank of Hyderabad/ State Bank of Mysore/ State Bank of Patiala /State Bank of Travancore
  • by Visa/ Master Credit/ Debit Card.

Central Police Force

The UPSC conducts Central Police Force Examinations every year to recruit Assistant Commandments (Group A) in Central Police Forces. The examination is conducted in accordance with the Rules published by the Ministry of Home Affairs in the Gazette of India.

The recruitment is done under the five main categories.

Combined Medical Services

The UPSC conducts Combined Medical Services Examination every year to recruit medical graduates into a variety of Central Government Organisations and Services.  The combined medical services Examination is conducted in accordance with the Rules published by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare in the Gazette of India.

Combined Defence Services

The Combined Defense Services (CDS) provides excellent career opportunities for young and courageous individuals who nurture a strong feeling of patriotism. UPSC conducts CDS examination, twice every year for the selection in Indian Armed Forces, Army, Navy and Air Force.

National Defense Academy and Naval Academy

The National Defense Academy is located in Pune and is the common ground for training the three wings of Indian Defense, Army, Navy and Air Force.
